Dracula, the Bad Blood
Horror movies are always a fascination for people of any age. It is equally enjoyable by everyone even though it scares them a lot or at least a little bit. One of the best scary characters ever created, is the well known Dracula. Let's explore something about him!
In 1897, a person named Bram Stoker wrote a gothic horror novel called Dracula. He was created as a vampiric character. It was from then on that vampires began to be a trending type of horror character. Readers went addicted to the novel. Many theatrical plays, films and television programs emerged on account of Count Dracula. Now there are about 59 Dracula movies(as I could find out)!
The movie 'Dracula' of 1958 was one among the best Dracula movies starring Christopher Lee as Dracula.
Actually for Bram Stoker, a real life inspiration existed. It was Sir Henry Irving, a friend of his. He was a Shakespearean actor who had a chemistry with villainous roles and had a good dramatic presence. Also studies reveal that a historical figure called Vlad the Impaler was an influence for Stoker to create Dracula.
Bram Stoker spent 7 years in researching the European folklore and going through vampire stories. Dracula was a fruit of his hard work and ambition. The name means Bad Blood when translated from Gaelic. Till now, Dracula remains to be a notable name when it comes to the horror genre. The picture of him never fades from our memory.
